WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Green Party of the United States is pleased to announce new co-chairs of the party.

The co-chairs were elected by delegates from state Green Parties and Green caucuses at the party's 2015 Annual National Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri, this past weekend. Videos of events at the meeting, which took place at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, are listed with links below.

The Green Party's Steering Committee is comprised of seven co-chairs, one secretary, and one treasurer. The committee is elected to staggered two-year terms by means of Instant Runoff Voting.

The newly elected co-chairs are Sanda Everett (California) and Bahram Zandi (Maryland). Andrea Mérida (Colorado) and Tamar Yager (Virginia) were reelected, Ms. Mérida after serving a partial term. Jan Martell (North Carolina) was elected national secretary of the Green Party.

Audrey Clement (Virginia), Charles Ostdiek (Nebraska), and Karen Young (New York) continue to serve as co-chairs after their election in 2014.

"The Green Party is the only safe port in the political storm for Latinx people," said Ms. Mérida, who is helping organize the party's Latinx Caucus (http://www.gp.org/caucuses/latino/index.php). "Both Democrats and Republicans seek to warehouse us in concentration camps regardless of citizenship status. Both corporate parties ignore the estimated $11 billion in tax revenue undocumented workers contribute, as well as our role as teachers, lawyers, doctors, and more."

"I am proud to be the only Latina serving in a political party's national leadership today, as well as the second in the Green Party's history. I have a home here, and I am excited to bring my Colorado horse sense to complement the work at hand with my co-chair colleagues," added Ms. Mérida.
