Tension over the #TPP is growing as is global resistance against it

FlushtheTPP

As leaders of TPP countries gather in New Zealand this week, there will be actions in 7 countries and 60 cities!

Corporate Greed Resisters!

We welcome our new corporate treaty resisters who have taken the action pledge or joined the Buycott for Trade Justice.
The photo above was taken this past weekend in Dallas.

Tension over the TPP is growing as is global resistance against it. In Canada, the leader of the NDP Thomas Mulcair confronted the Prime Minister in Parliament and asked him if he has "a habit of signing things he doesn't agree with."

In New Zealand, Maori tribes are refusing to perform the welcoming ceremony for TPP country leaders before the signing but will welcome activists in Auckland who will oppose the TPP. New Zealand police are donning riot gear although the last riot was in 1981 and activists are calling for peaceful protest.

This week there will be actions in 7 countries - Argentina, Canada, Chile, Japan, New Zealand, Peru and the United States and in 60 cities. In South America, they are calling the actions "International March of Unity and Resistance Against the TPP." See the list below and check them out on the map.

And we won't stop there! Plans are underway to pressure individual members of Congress during the upcoming breaks and for another mass mobilization. There will also be a protest at Rancho Mirage on February 15 while President Obama hosts a trade summit there. Click here for details.

Here is what you can do to stop the TPP:

1. Join the actions on February 3 and 4. Click on the Action Map to find one near you. It's not too late to add an action. Send details to info@popularresistance.org. You will also find the list of cities below. Here is the Facebook Page.

2. Start pressuring your member of Congress. You can reach them by calling 202 224 3121. Or plan a visit to their local office during the next break, February 14 to 21. If they are opposed to the TPP, ask them to do more to speak out and build opposition in Congress. If they are not opposed yet, ask them to read it and explain why. And if they are for the TPP, then organize actions to pressure them to switch their position (it has happened).

3. Join the weekly calls to get informed and to join in the organizing efforts.
TPP Resistance calls are on Wednesday nights at 9 pm Eastern/6 pm Pacific. The next call will be February 3, 2016.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR THE CALL.

Let's grow this movement of movements. Join the call and invite other TPP resisters too!

There are new tools on the education page including an updated flyer you can download and print.

And finally, if you are able, please donate to support this work. Click here to donate. Thank you!
