#totn #Election2012 Higher #education in peril: #Students take a stand for the Green Party #tuition #studentdebt #strikedebt

Thirty million college students and recent graduates are trapped in the financial prison of student loan debt. Most students must take out costly loans to meet the skyrocketing cost of tuition. Yet paying off those loans can be almost impossible, as young people face double-digit unemployment and much lower pay – 40% less – than their parents’ generation received for the same work.

Jill Stein understands that the current system of high-cost tuition, mounting student debt, and faltering student aid simply cannot last.

As President of the United States, Jill Stein will implement tuition-free education from kindergarten through college, thus eliminating the student debt crisis. Current student debt, which totals over $1 trillion and exceeds even total credit card debt, will be forgiven.

Jill Stein understands that the growing trend of privatized colleges and corporate-funded charter schools is not the answer for improving education. Thus, Stein will protect public schools from being privatized.

Jill Stein will put an end to high-stakes testing, and stop punishing students and teachers for the failures of the system in which they work and study. Jill Stein does not support denying students diplomas based on tests, and will end the system of using merit pay to punish teachers.

On November 6, we urge you to cast your vote for the candidate who will truly reform our failing educational system and usher country into the 21st century with an education system that truly works for all. Vote Jill Stein for President.
