#Wisconsin Green Party Primary Underway - Nominating Convention March 3 in Madison #WIunion #SolidarityWI

Wisconsin Green Party

(Madison, WI) - The Wisconsin Green Party is conducting a Presidential Primary by mail, with ballots sent to all dues paying members of the Party this week. Mailed ballots must be returned by March 2nd, the day before the WIGP State Nominating Convention and Spring Membership Meeting.

The Primary ballot includes four candidates. Roseanne Barr (CA) is an actress, author and activist, best known for her 1980s sitcom "Roseanne". Kent Mesplay (CA) is an air quality inspector in San Diego, California, who also ran for the Green Party nomination in 2004 and 2008. Harley Mikkelson (MI) is a retired state employee and was the Green Party candidate for Governor of Michigan in 2010. Jill Stein (MA) is a physician and environmental health advocate and was the Green-Rainbow Party candidate for Governor of Massachusetts in 2002 and 2010.

Wisconsin does not have party registration, therefore the Presidential Primary ballot is being distributed to dues-paying members of the Wisconsin Green Party. Wisconsinites still have time to join the party ( http://wisconsingreenparty.org/?q=join ) and receive a ballot by mail.

On March 3rd, the Wisconsin Green Party's Spring Membership Gathering and Presidential Nominating Convention will be held at Memorial Union, 800 Langdon St., in Madison, Wisconsin. Ballots may be cast at the Convention by Green Party members until 11:30 a.m. The results of the primary will be announced, and Delegates to the Green Party Presidential Nominating Convention in Baltimore, Maryland on July 14-15 will be elected. It is anticipated that Wisconsin will receive nine Delegates to the Green Party Convention, who will be committed to Presidential Candidates in proportion to their votes received in the Wisconsin Primary.
